Hello. I am a writer, historian, teacher, and public speaker. My research focuses primarily on sports in America.
My most recent book, The Strenuous Life: Theodore Roosevelt and the Making of the American Athlete, came out with Diversion Books in August 2019. I am an Associate Professor in the Honors College at the University of New Mexico. I'm also the Director of the Lobo Scholars Program, an innovative initiative that serves NCAA Division I Student Athletes. I previously taught at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. I teach classes like "The Legacy of Failure in America" and "US History through Sports." My grandma once asked me if these are "real" classes. Yes, yes they are. My family and I live in beautiful (if dusty and brown) Albuquerque, New Mexico. No, we don't know Walter White. Order the Strenuous Life |
